Edie’s Notes—The Personal Touch: Priceless

Text Box: The Holiday Season is upon us once again, the stores are filled with holiday gifts, and people are scurrying about looking for the latest toy or high-tech gadget. The emphasis is on spending lots of money to show that you care. Many of us are involved in this madcap spending spree, but there is an alternative. Rather than spending a lot of money, you can give the gift of time. Take time to talk with your friends and relatives; offer to help with some chores or projects; use your creativity to make something personalized for the recipient. Your time and interest will be appreciated more than the glitzy gift that you were planning to buy.
In the same way, your gift of time and creativity to AAUW events and projects is Text Box: much appreciated by the membership. Although your participation may not be obvious to the casual observer, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes help that is vital to the smooth running of the branch and the implementation of the various programs and interest groups. I would like to give my sincere thanks to all of you who have helped make our branch a success.

For those of you who have not been active participants, come to a monthly program, join an interest group, come to a no-host lunch, and get to know some of the wonderful women we have in this organization. I’m sure that you’ll have a good time and will come back for more! We welcome your ideas as we plan for future Text Box: events and would welcome your help in making them a reality.

As we navigate through this holiday season, think of others, be kind to the people you meet, and be good to yourself. Wishing you peace, health and happiness in this season and in the New Year.
