Membership Campaign

Text Box: AAUW is sponsoring a new membership campaign.  A discount of 50% off Association dues is given to a new or lapsed member (those who have not been members for at Text Box: least two years) if the prospective member joins at an AAUW event.  Joining entails filling out the membership form and paying the membership dues.  The total cost Text Box: for national, state, and branch membership with the discount is $52.50, a savings of $24.50 for the year.
Text Box: Susan Gelberg has BA from from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY; MA in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Ithaca College, NY; and PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She has been a licensed psychologist since 1990. She has worked in university counseling centers, university career centers, hospitals, large and small private practices, HMO’s and community mental health centers. After moving to Oregon, she worked as a psychologist at Oregon State Hospital and is now at the Oregon State Penitentiary. She also does occasional MBTI (Myers-Briggs type Indidator) consulting.
Text Box: She was born in Miami, Fl. Her husband, Howard, is on the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine at OSU. They have lived in NH, NY, IL, and Oregon. They have two daughters, Katherine, an engineer in Houston married to a percussionist in the Houston Symphony, parents of on-year-old Benjamin; and Sarah, a technical writer in San Jose. They have two golden retrievers, Andy and Kasey.
Susan says that friends call the field of psychology both her work and her “hobby” because she spends a lot of time reading psychological topics just for fun as well as for professional development. She and her husband enjoy walking the dogs in Text Box: McDonald Forest—a walking path directly behind their house. They are passionate Democrats and so enjoy listening to Air America, watching Keith Oberman (MSNBC), and Democracy Now on Link TV. They enjoy movies and dinners with local friends.
She belonged to our Corvallis Branch several years ago before she began full-time work at Oregon State Hospital. Since she works in Salem three days a week, she’s not able to attend many daytime events. She’s especially looking forward to attending the evening AAUW programs and any weekend events. She does want to meet other women with common interests.
